2006 Amazon/Manchu Picchu/Lake Titicaca Trip
By Dr. Dan Wagner
Our tenth student expedition was an astounding success. Traveling
to the South Peruvian Amazon & Cusco & Manchu Picchu was an experience
of a lifetime for our team of 20 with students from 7 universities. We truly
enjoyed our time spent with Don Antonio Montero, Amazonian Shaman. He was our
guide on the trails along the Madra de Dios River. We visited his ethnobotanical
garden near Puerto Maldonado & enjoyed the beauty of Lake Sandoval. Visiting
the 12,500 ft. high city of Cusco & the ancient Inca city of Manchu Picchu
was pure magic. The benefits of studying medicinal plants, natural medicine
& ethnopharmacy was the true focus of our trip. Our cordial relationship
with ACEER (Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research) truly helped
our expedition. Their planning, accommodations and guides were excellent!
